Include Fasting with Prayer

Whether for all or part of the 21 days, we encourage you to fast. Fasting is a biblical discipline that prepares our hearts to draw closer to God. When we choose to fast from food, we express our faith and awaken our spirit to a greater dependency on Him. Fasting amplifies our prayer life, sharpens our spiritual sensitivity, and helps us hear the Father's voice more clearly. As we deny our physical appetite, we create space for the Holy Spirit to work more powerfully in and through us.

Fasting or Abstaining? Or both?

Fasting focuses on reducing or removing food to increase our hunger and dependence on God. Abstaining involves setting aside non-food activities and distractions to create more intentional time with Him. Both practices complement each other and can deepen your 21-day journey.

Ways to Fast:

  • Liquid only: water and juice
  • Partial fast: remove one meal per day
  • Selective fast: eliminate specific foods or food groups (caffeine, sweets, meat, processed foods)
  • "Daniel fast": fruits, vegetables, and whole grains only

Ways to Abstain:

  • Social media and digital entertainment (TV, YouTube, streaming services)
  • Video games and recreational screen time
  • Shopping, hobbies, or other time-consuming activities
  • News media or podcasts

Please note: If you have health conditions, are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication, consult your doctor before fasting. Fasting should never compromise your health—God honors whatever sacrifice you can offer.
