Welcome

We’re glad that you stopped by to have a look at the Bethel website.  Take a look around and contact us if you have any questions.

Our hope is that you experience the reality of God’s presence and great love for you. “Bethel” refers to an encounter with God that changes you, altering your destiny, and the direction of your life.  That is our prayer for every person, couple, child, and family in Vancouver and beyond.  People need to discover God’s love, power, and purpose for their lives and this is found through a life of faith, following Jesus.  Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). You are welcome to join us on this spiritual journey of abundant life.

About “Bethel International Church”

We are group of people from various ages and backgrounds.  You could call us an international, inter-generational church.

We meet together for our Celebration Service every Sunday as well as in Life Groups (aka. small groups) in homes around Vancouver during the week.  But our faith is not so much about coming “to a church”, but rather “being the church”, a redemptive transforming presence in our world.  We see ourselves as “missionaries” in our workplaces, communities, and relationships – demonstrating God’s kindness and sharing the good news (the gospel) of Jesus Christ.  In other words, our relationship with Jesus is not something we keep private.  It’s something we invite others to experience.

We like to visit and eat together.  On some Sundays we have potluck lunches, and during life group  meetings, there is good food to snack on as we share life together. We aim to be hospitable.

Children and young people are incredibly important to us, which is why we have activities and times of teaching for them. There is a weekly gathering for youth on Fridays as well and classes for children on Sundays.

We believe that God speaks to people through the written and preached Word of God (i.e. the Bible).   It is our foundation for faith and practice.  We also believe in the power of prayer and the dynamic presence of God. In our gatherings we emphasize the need to respond to God in prayer and allow His Spirit to do his work.   We believe Jesus heals people and empowers people in miraculous ways when we pray and trust in Him.

We don’t see ourselves as perfect people, but as those who are being “transformed” into the kind of people God has intended for us to be.  We see life is a gift from God, and therefore it is sacred and holy.  We aim to live our lives reverently before  Him. But reverence is not an excuse to be boring, but an opportunity to celebrate the life we have because of Jesus Christ.
