Life Groups

If you are new to Bethel, consider participating in a life group. It’s a great way to get connected and get a feel for the “life” of the church in relationship with God and one another.

What is a Life Group?

Life Groups are small gatherings (usually between 6-12) where we “do life” together in a supportive environment and “bring life” to others by serving in meaningful ways.  Our life groups meet weekly for about 1 ½ to 2 hours, usually in homes around Metro Vancouver.

What Happens in a Life Group?

…Something genuinely life changing, we believe. Here are a few things that we do in a life group and what happens as a result:

  • When we visit and meet together, we discover the value of caring community.
  • When we pray together, God hears and answers according to His will.
  • When we learn together from God’s Word (i.e. the Bible), we are equipped for living life to the fullest.
  • When we encourage and hold one another accountable, we grow in God’s purpose for our lives.
  • When we serve together, we make a greater impact in other people’s lives.
  • When we celebrate life and give thanks together, we experience God’s goodness.
  • When we “bring life” to others, they experience Jesus and join in on the journey of faith.

How Can I Connect with a Life Group?

Our life groups meet weekly at various locations throughout Metro Vancouver and cater to many age groups and seasons of life. To find out which one would be suitable for you, do any of the following:

  • Stop by the welcome centre before or after our Celebration Service to pick up more information.

Why Life Groups?

Just as cells are the building block of the human body, we believe that cellgroups (or “life” groups) are the building block of the church.  Our understanding and experience is that the abundant life Jesus gives (John 10:10) is to be lived and enjoyed in community and bring life-changing impact to people around us. When the “early” Church (in the Bible) first started, they met in homes and public places across the cities and towns in which they lived.  That’s quite a different dynamic than attending a “service” in a church building!  For many people church can become a religious activity or duty where there is little or no connection with God or people.  When Christianity is only expressed and experienced alone or in a large crowd, we miss the incredible value and importance of authentic relationships that God has intended for us to participate in.
